The Obama Forgeries and GOP Self-Censorship

In 1944, as his manuscript of Animal Farm was being repeatedly rejected by fearful British publishers, George Orwell wrote:

The sinister fact about censorship … is that it is largely voluntary … Unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need for any official ban … because of a general tacit agreement that ‘it wouldn’t do’ to mention that particular fact.  It is not exactly forbidden to say this or that or the other, but it is ‘not done’ to say it … Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness …

On April 27, 2011, President Obama and the White House issued what they claimed was Obama’s “Long-Form Birth Certificate” from the state of Hawaii.

That document, as well as his Selective Service registration card, have long since been 100% proven by credible investigators to be forgeries — and very poor ones at that.  Yet, in all the discussions about the importance of character in our presidential candidates during the campaign, that “smoking gun” was never discussed except on back pages of the Internet.

Why?

During 2012 campaign meetings and discussions, whenever I brought that question up, the usual reply went something like this:

<< Well, we don’t want to talk about that.  Yes, the documents are forgeries, and it speaks badly for Obama’s character, but the Left has so tarred everyone who discusses it with that damned epithet “birther” that it could actually hurt Romney’s chances for re-election.  People still like the president and don’t want to think bad things about him.  We should play it smart, stick to the economy, and stay away from attacking the president’s character. >>

I even got a reaction like the one above from an Arizona county attorney and a high-level campaigner for a conservative Republican Congressman.

I wonder what those folks think now.  The Democrat campaign actually had the gall to present Obama as the candidate with superior character. Had the situation been reversed, one can only imagine how much “hay” the Democrats would have made out of a forgery issued from a Republican White House.

I suppose it’s all “water over the dam” now … or is it?

Deliberate forgeries issued from the White House?   Am I the only one still appalled by Obama’s debasement and defilement of the office of President of the United States?  Couldn’t he at least have had enough respect for American citizens’ intelligence to present better-quality forgeries?  Good grief!

If we just let this one go, what will the Left do next?  Or has it already emboldened them to try deceptions like the ongoing (alleged) Benghazi deceptions?  And why are we letting the forgeries go at all?  Are we perhaps so embarrassed at not pursuing the issue earlier that we don’t want to call attention now to our own negligence?

We nearly impeached Richard Nixon for lying about a burglary cover-up and Bill Clinton for perjury related to a personal affair with an intern.  Might not forgery be an impeachable offense for Obama (among, arguably, a long list of other offenses)?  Might someone in the media one day just ask Jay Carney if the White House still stands by its issued documents as genuine?

Or shall we all just go on “not talking about it” in good Orwellian, voluntary, self-censorship style?

It's not just the forgery, it's the concealing of a past that more than likely disqualifies him to hold executive office. This guy, supposedly, could find and kill bin laden, but can't locate an authentic birth certificate or produce college records. Who is he…really?????

Quite right, ginjit.dw. He disqualified himself on many levels, but commission of forgery, while in office, should have been a major campaign issue, especially when Obama/Biden tried to "outclass" Romney on character. Now that's chutzpah!

Alas, no one would even bring it up. Small wonder he and his entourage think they can get away with still more deceptions. Stick around. I'll bet we ain't seen nothin' yet.

    Dream on, dream on.
Obama was born in Hawaii..even the Republican governor of Hawaii and all true investigators admitted it. His school records, like all school records are sealed.
I would not wish for my school records to be released to anyone but me.

Congratulations, "Republican". You completely missed the point. Where he was actually born is irrelevant. Character is supposed to matter in a presidential candidate, even if it doesn't matter to you. Please confirm you do know what character is(?).

What does Obama's commission of forgery say about Obama's character? Why wasn't that used by the GOP during the campaign? What does the silence of the GOP and news media say about the GOP and news media?

Although I say this sadly DLe…. The majority of the GOP, along with Fox News and most of the parties "heavy hitters"and the ones who should be sporting the loudest ie (Romney, Ryan, etc) have turned their backs our at least turned tail which it's the same as far as I am concerned, it seems they lack the same stuff. St Lucia with over 247,000 votes with under 176,000 registered voters…..them giving up this quick leaves me doubting they deserve to be in the positions they running for anyway…..although the alternative is an uneducated communist dictator enforcing his will not the people's…..I guess I would take a couple whiny cowards over a Constitution
    shredding dictator still

Thanks, TBW … it's good to know somebody "gets it". Quite right about the media. If I could change only one thing, it would be turn the news media back toward what journalism was supposed to be about … presenting news and uncovering truth. Instead they cover up truth, hype non-truth, and try to clean up after a president with a grade-school neo-Marxist ideology and a resume that wouldn't have earned him a job in any successful business anywhere. And the GOP cowers before that media, giving away elections and possibly the country.

A new article in American Thinker covers this whole theme well on a broader scale: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/11/losing_the

Those fine boys in your FB photo deserve a future … this fight is for them, not the snidely pundits and GOP Consultancy Class.

No..you are not the only one appalled. Everyday I scratch my head and wonder what is going on. Benghazi, fiscal cliff, sequester..relatively new puzzlements to make your head spin.
