Adam Lanza at Sandy Hook only follows a long list of mass murderers. Jack the Ripper by all accounts killed dozens of women in two different countries, according to modern investigations. Jeffrey Dahmer slayed some 17 young people in his quest to quench his thirst for blood and sexual perversion. In 1966 Charles Whitman scaled the tower at the University of Texas and began assassinating some 17 people with a scoped long-range rifle. Of course who can forget the tragedy at the Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas back in 1991, when a shooter drove his pickup truck through the front glass window, jumped out and slaughtered 23 diners, and wounding another 20. Most recently we have Seung-Hui Cho using Virginia Tech University for his target practicing gallery. Some 33 victims later, we are left with the worst mass murder in United States history until Aurora, Colorado. James Holmes managed to kill and wound some 69 people before he walked out and was arrested at the rear of the theater.
The caterwauling has already begun since last Friday’s tragedy in Newtown, Ct. The screams for tighter gun control on the heals of Sandy Hook and the Macy’s in Oregon incident and the rest are most definitely growing on Capitol Hill and across America. There is precious little doubt that these occurrences in America seem to be growing more frequent. It had been decades since anything of this nature had transpired after the Charles Whitman shooting in Texas. In fact, on a mass scale nothing had really transpired until the Luby’s incident in 91 then Columbine High School in 1999. I referenced Jack the Ripper and Jeffrey Dahmer above, for the point that if someone wants to kill, they will do so. Be it with a knife, gun or a club.
The 2nd Amendment states; A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I am the first to concede that Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams et al, had no concept that we would invent M-16’s, AK-47’s and many other types of human slaughtering devices. With that said, we also have to concede that the original intent of that Amendment was NOT designed nor written for any other purpose than to protect the people from the government. That is a given!
A SOCIETY IN DECAY;
There is now precious little doubt that we are a society in decay. Not wanting to sound to “Bible Thumpish” here, just take a quick look at where we are today from some 50 years ago. Five decades ago, we had prayer in school. Every morning the Principle of the school would lead the students in a prayer over the intercom just before classes started. Five decades ago, we had Nativity scenes at Christmas across our land. Five decades ago, we had a law that prevented the slaughter of innocent unborn children along with the Ten Commandments posted in every school and every court-house in America. Today we have Steve marrying Larry in celebrated ceremonies on the steps of the Court Houses and nowhere in sight are the Ten Commandments. Today we have some 60,000,000 dead babies and people walking into movie theaters slaughtering innocent people. Five decades ago we had an America that sought to help their neighbor in a time of need, today we have Americans standing with their hands out, looking to Uncle Sam for a check and free food. So what happened?
I do not think nor believe one has to go any further than the Holy Bible. The Holy Bible teaches us to respect each-other. The Bible teaches us the sanctity of life and to love life and embrace something greater than ourselves. The Bible teaches us the laws of God that we are to adhere too and try to emulate. When we as a society throw the Bible and God out of everything as a collective, then we have problems. Today you’re witnessing the results of that. When we as a society say it is “O.K.-No problem; You go right ahead and murder that 24 week old non-viable tissue mass in your womb”, that is your right to do so, then you
further devalue human life to the masses.
What we are witnessing today is the results of a TOTAL LACK OF AND THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE. We are witnessing nothing short of the slaughter of Christians for entertainment purposes at the Roman Colosseum.
We will always have psychopaths among us. We will always have a Jeffrey Dahmer or Jack the Ripper. They have been here since the beginning of time. We will always have an anomaly such as these. However today, when you combine millions of “Latch Key” children with X-Boxes playing games where they get more points for the killing of people with a lack of parental influence in their lives, you have problems. These children today are not having any influence from God in their lives collectively because the parents are to busy trying to survive in this brutal economy. Combine this with the society that says “no-problem”, the lack of God, the lack of parenting and the new society that is totally self gratifying, now you have bigger problems.
THE FINAL SOLUTION:
Say what you will. Call me whatever you feel like calling me, but here is the reality. Norway was witness to a horrific slaughter last year. Norway has some of the toughest gun laws in the free world. To obtain a hunting license, the applicant must complete a 30 hour, 9 session course and pass a written multiple choice exam. The course includes firearm theory, firearm training, wildlife theory, and environmental protection training. That is just for the hunting permit! Then your restricted on the size, caliber etc for the sorts of guns you can own. And yet, they had a lunatic walk into a retreat and waste 93 people and wound some 96 more! Yes, he had automatic weapons in a country where these guns are illegal.
The point being, it doesn’t matter what gun restrictions we impose. WE must change people’s hearts. The only way to do this is through God. Until we re-prioritize our loves, until we place what is truly important at the forefront of our brains again, get back to basics, we will continue this downward spiral. Until we stop the slaughter of God’s babies, place God in our nations heart again, we are doomed America. Can you not see the handwriting on the wall?
These are my personal thoughts on this gruesome tragedy. Feel free to write me or leave your comments. I would love to hear them.
