It is time for the US to extract themselves from the UN.
From Wonder Woman to disrespecting democracy in Israel, the United Nations has long passed it’s expiration date with the US.
Earlier this year, as part of a gender equality initiative for women and girls, the UN chose Wonder Woman, the comic book figure, as it’s honorary ambassador for the cause. Predictably, real people were real upset. The UN underestimated the need for real people to help other real people, with real causes. The decision has since been reversed.
This past week, the UN deviated from its obsession with scantily clad comic book heroines to focus on actual people. The UN, while ignoring real history, and unjustly voted to take land from Israel to give to Palestine.
The US abstained from the vote. An interesting choice with Israel as the only democracy in the Middle East. Since the US also contributes about a fifth of the UN’s budget, have a strong voice in this arena. Yet, the US remained silent and allowed the resolution to pass.
The UN has done good things, like vaccinations. The potential of the UN has been overshadowed by a new level of impotence and self-serving policies that benefit only Islamic controlled interests. This direct attack on a non-Islamic, democratic nation for political reasons must be countermanded immediately.
Unlike Wonder Woman, this situation involves actual humans and real situations. An organization that thinks comic book characters represent the oppressed women of the world, cannot be allowed to dictate to other countries where their boundaries lie.
Much like the choice of a comic book heroine to represent women across the globe, the decision to remove land from Israel must be reversed. Thankfully, we can look towards a decisive POTUS come January 20, 2017. A decision this country made that looks better every day.
