This Is What Happens When You Call The Cops. When I was growing up in Louisiana, my parents taught me if I were ever in a tight spot to find a police officer. Back then the officer with no bullet proof best, his bubble top car, and .38 Special was the best protection you could get. He had courage, authority and more than that, he had common sense.
Not a week, my bad, not a DAY goes by now that we aren’t entertained by the YouTube video of some teenage girl getting shot for reaching for her cell phone to call her mother. Think I’m exaggerating? Check out the girl being handcuffed and stuffed in a squad car as she stumbled around dazed because she’d just been knocked off her bicycle by a car. She got pepper sprayed too. But you know she had to be black, right?
The shooting in Mesa, Arizona should have been a wake up call for all of us, all except the cop got off. I could go on and on, cite case after case, but it begins to be redundant. Who cares how many Jews went into said gas chamber after the first one? They were all WRONG!
The prevailing opinion of a lot of police officers is the American public is suspect. They point out that a traffic stop can be dangerous, and I can
understand that, but crossing a street can be dangerous, eating sushi can be dangerous, seeing your sister in law on the side can be dangerous. Perhaps WE are more dangerous now because THEY are dangerous!
A Facebook friend of mine has a good analogy. He addressed this problem of police violence and a cop responded, and I will paraphrase, if he didn’t like cops so much, the next time he’s in
trouble, call a thug! His logic was of course you need police at times. Car wreck, brother in law won’t move out, usual stuff, but he went on to explain, that doesn’t excuse, or forgive past actions. The example he gave was the Nazis using French police to round up Jewish children for the gas chambers. He articulately pointed out that after 4100 kids were disposed of almost surely the officers went back on the beat helping citizens with routine incidents. That did NOT sanitize the gas chambers! Next time you get in trouble call a Nazi. This Is What Happens When You Call The Cops!
The militarization Of police did not happen overnight and it won’t be gone by morning. We have accepted brutality for what we called safety. Old school, like me try to live in the past. The kids know the real deal. This is the main reason we must fight to preserve the second amendment. Because when a pest exterminator dies on the floor of a hotel, This Is What Happens When You Call The Cops!
