A Christian locked in a court battle with the Internal Revenue Service for his opposition on taxpayer-funded abortions has received a major victory.
Senate File 2281 passed the chamber on a 30-20 vote, and now heads to the Iowa House where Republicans hold a 59-41 majority. If passed, Iowa would be the first state to implement heartbeat legislation, effectively banning most abortions.
“As governor I have worked hard to strengthen Ohio’s protections for the sanctity of human life, and I have a deep respect for my fellow members of the pro-life community and their ongoing efforts in defense of unborn life. Certain provisions that were amended into Am. Sub. HB 493, however, are clearly contrary to the Supreme Court of the United States’ current rulings on abortion.
